Pls help me with annoying bass problem

hello
i have issue with front speakers I bought wharfedale diamond 9.6 which are connected to onkyo 606. My room has 20 m2 and the problem is when I seat on my sofa I can hear very strong annoying bass (but this is happening only when I'm listening to stereo). In my AV front speakers are 50 hz. Is it possible that it's case of too small space or that my room has not enough acousting treatment? Maybe I have sth wrong with my av set up?
Could someone help me please
