Square Enix is the most disappointed company this gen they really drop the ball with all "aiming for West" talk. What happened to all japanese influenced RPGs Squaresoft were the kings of?
Front Mission Evolved is turning into a shitty third person shooter when it was known for it's strategically battle system. This will not sell in Japan! The Last Remnant used Unreal Engine 3.5 which is using on PC and it doesn't feel that japanese to me more like an half-assed Western PC developing game. tri-ace is also a disappointing developer so far: Star Ocean 4 changed the anime feel to a more Western-kind-of-design to appeal to these North American Xbox shooter fans. Infinite Undiscovery felt it was developed in one week. Easier to develop for? Right! The result speaks for itself. I didn't know that a company known for AAA RPGs whatever they make have been influenced by MS. And Wada is one of them (can't believe he's an old Squaresoft developer). The thing is he has a big mouth for one. He kinda acts like a PR for microsoft in some of his speeches. He has insulted both ps3 (not knowning what it is) and wii (just a toy). What happened to "our main platforms are Nintendo's and Sony's platforms"? This is what their fanbase got angry about when Wada turned it's back on Square's biggest fanbase they have built during the years and is now alienated it. To hell with that man! There is no hope at all for S-E and I really hope that Nomura and Kitase leave the company and take their teams with them to join Sony. That would be the best for the quality's sake. I don't see any future inside of S-E's building. |

Funny thing is Square has already made a couple of FF games on the Wii but how many games have been on PS3? 1(not including PS1 games on PSN store) and that 1 game Crystal Defenders is just a PSN store game not a single disc game in Japan or America besides FFXIII which won't be till next year. Ever since Wada took over lets just say I've been enjoying the awesome games that Atlus and NIS bring over to America like Persona and Disgaea.

He was very embarrising on Microsoft press conference at E3 in '08. Talked like a slow monkey with broken English and his ass kissing on Microsoft was very clear. We will never see great RPGs by Square in the near future. Kitase and Nomura deserves a better studio and since Kitase have been pissed on Wada I see the news coming after the FFXIII projects. S-E has shot itself in its own foot, and is paying for it. The only saving grace at the moment is FFXIII which is strangely a PS3 exclusive in Japan (maybe they still have a little sense then).
How many developers stay with them in the future? Who knows. Tri-ace is shying away from them with there next game coming out via Sega so this could be the opening of the flood gates. Only time will tell |

My dream is that Nomura leaves S-E and Sony gives him his own studio or something to make 1st party RPGs.

What is that supposed to mean? Square Enix is a crappy company nowadays that have failed many times this gen. Why fix it when it's not broken?
I'm sorry but I don't know what you meant with that. I'm mentioning both Microsoft and Sony in my post. Last edited by Soulblazer; 06-30-2009 at 01:42 PM. |

FFXIII won't suck though. I hope they get around to releasing a 3D Dragon Quest like DQVIII on the PS2.
It's more then likely that Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant were done by the B teams. Last Remnant isn't actually all that bad, it just runs poorly. Infinite Undiscovery though is just textbook poor design. |

Get over it, S-E is not what they used to be in the last gen. Squaresoft was even better than S-E. But now that they have gone Western-style Nomura and Kitase should leave the company as fastest as they can. |

It seems every generation has equaled less square games I buy ill be honest, psone era I bought many square games and would almost blind buy them, ps2 era that changed.. square was no longer a blind buy but one that had to be evaluated first... I don't think square has released any ps3 games yet or maybe im wrong... hmm... Quote:

Agreed. It would be like selling text based adventures to hard core Arcade fps users.. I think they need to go back to there roots... |
