Default Need Audio Help! (receiver)

Okay, I'm trying to finish the whole setup, but I don't know enough about audio. I have a set of Klipsch speakers -- 2 floor speakers, a center channel, and 2 rears -- and a Martin Logan sub. I'd like to get a 7.1 channel receiver now and try to upgrade the last 2 rear speakers later, but I have a few questions. I was hoping that some of you could help me answer them...

1. If I have a Samsung BD-P1000 with audio outputs, do I still need receiver with HDMI inputs and outputs?
2. Will the HDMI plus the audio outputs from a receiver give me the best sound for PCM and other uncompressed audio Blu-rays? If so, can someone maybe explain why as well?
3. And finally, assuming I need a receiver that does have HDMI inputs and one output to the TV, does the receiver need to 1080p capable to take full advantage of 1080p resolution from my Blu-ray to my TV still?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer.
