Default question about audio

ide like to know. what is better? i know DTS HS-MA is better than those 2. cuz, some of my movies have both of those 2 audio types.

Dolby HD-MA
PCM 5.1

Essentially, they're the same, but I like Uncompressed PCM.

*sigh

none of the 3 are any better than any of the others.

ALL 3 of the codes (DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD and PCM) are LOSSLESS (meaning 0 loss of the master audio. DTS-HD MA and TrueHD are basically the exact same thing as PCM just "zipped" per se. and DTS-HD MA is NOT any better or effective than TrueHD, DTS-HD MA is just recorded at a slightly higher volume. IF you have two audio tracks in lossless on the same disc level matching the two tracks and comparing, you'll find there is no diff. Louder DOES NOT equal better

TrueHD is better due to it's aerodynamic HD bits that allow it to fly through the HDMI cable at lightning speeds.

I agree that all three will sound identical after volume equalisation. The only argument in favour of using the DD TrueHD and DTS HDMA codecs is that they require less space on a BD compared with the equivalent PCM track, thereby freeing up more disc space for the video which can therefore be encoded at a higher bitrate. I assume that's why the major studios tend to use one of the audio codecs rather than PCM. (Also, of course, they have probably made deals with Dolby and/or DTS.)

But does anyone know the typical percentage savings in space that are gained by using DD TrueHD or DTS HDMA rather than PCM? In other words, if the PCM would require, say 5GB, what would each of the codecs typically require? I'd be interested to know how significant the saving is.
