Hi fellow forum users. Let me begin my Blu-Ray experience. I have owned a ps3 for sometime now, but have been a little shortcoming in using the Blu-Ray technology. Lately I have purchased a few blu-rays. They are,
300. Simpsons Movie Tropic Thunder. I am planning on purchasing a new Blu-Ray soon. I have read the many reviews out there on sites and forums, and have pin-pointed it down to either Transformers Special Edition, Sin City, or one of the Pixar movies such as Ratatouille or A Bugs Life. I have seen all of them and enjoy all of them. For those who own one of the three blu-rays that I own above, how does the picture quality of say 300 compare to Transformers or one of the other blu-rays I was interested in above. I have read the reviews, but am looking for a personal comment from someone who owns and can compare. Thanks for reading! |

As Barone was saying, 300 does have a very unique, gritty look to it. It's got a lot of grain, so if you're looking for something super sharp and clean, go with one of the pixar movies or Transformers, they look amazing. And if you have a nice sound system, definitely go with Transformers!!
Otherwise, 300 and Sin City are pretty kickass on blu, and Sin City looks great! |

All three of those movies that you're thinking about buying look really darn good in their own style. Now you can't really compare them to 300 because while 300 looks fantastic and the detail is amazing, it is also really heavy with grain, which to some that don't know a lot about source material etc. is a big no no. I however love it.
I would say that Sin City, Transformers, and A Bug's Life are also a few of the best blus that I own. My favorite though in terms of darn good PQ and AQ would have to be Sin City. It's got a lot of that grain I was talking about, but of course the movie is in black & white. Since Sin City is a little heavy on the price right now I would prolly suggest Transformers for now, and save the other two for when their prices drop one day. They are both Disney/Buena Vista releases so you may be waiting a while. |

considering, I'd go with Transformers, especially if you have uncompressed audio.. |

I strongly recommend the Bourne Trilogy and the Ultimate Matrix Collection; both have demo disc worth PQ and AQ, both have a healthful amount of special features (Don't worry, you won't have trouble playing with U-Control, and I'll bet you will get to know a lot with the In-Movie Experience function), and both contain pretty awesome blockbusters to add to your collection. Hope this would help.
