Sorry if its been discussed, but a search didnt see anything.
Ok, so my friend has had a ps3 and a 40" samsung 1080p for quite some time now. The only blu ray movie he had was departed, and it played fine. Recently we hooked up a stereo to it, and games/dvd's/etc.. work great. except blu ray. So it goes ps3-hdmi-tv-optical out-reciever. Now whenever we pop in a BR movie (apocalypto) the tv loses signal. Eject the disc, and it goes back to the ps3. Direct tv and xbox 360/hd dvd work fine, it just seems to be the blu ray movie aspect of the ps3. Is it possible some settings got changed? |

wasn't there some people who had issues with the 1080/24 settings on some 1080 TVs? Try turning the 1080/24 to OFF instead of AUTO.

The PS3 has a setting for optical out. Did you go in there and make the change? There is a second setting I believe that will allow you select "Bitstream." I'd try those three things. |

Same, no change. I dont have an optical cable going from the ps3 to the tv. do i still need to change the audio to optical? Also, its almost as if the hdcp is messed up because its only blu-ray movies. |

I have a 1080i native CRT HDTV from Philips and up until now I've been using component cables and my PS3 has been looking great and playing BDs very well.
I finally decided to get an HDMI cable from monoprice for upscaling DVDs and have noticed that it somehow made the picture not as good. I've got the 24fps setting to off and have tried every combination of the whiter than white and blacker than black settings but the text from the XMB always looks aliased and affected by the interlacing a little too much whereas with the component cables hooked up I didn't have this issue. I think I'll be going back to component until I get a 1080p set ![]() |
