Been stated before- TigerDirect picked them up. Well, technically the group that owns TD- Systemax I believe. So they're only back in name. I get emails from them and it's all the same TD type stuff.

No, all they own is the name, none of the real estate. It would be dumb to open up Circuit City, as it had a horrible reputation when it died. This will purely be a web site.

its an internet only company trying to capitalize on any brand recognition that circuit city has left, they picked up the rights to the name on the cheap, and are trying to make a quick buck on it

I think an energy company should start using ENRON to sell power. Lots of brand recognition there, too!

They're just an online store now.

Was afraid of that. Egghead did the same thing about 10 years ago. One of the computer magazines (I forget which one) printed my letter to them that "Egghead sucks eggs". Why? They put hundreds and hundreds of people out of work to become an online store.

I don't believe CC closed for the sake of becoming an online store, but the overhead of being a warehouse with a web page is MUCH lower. The name recognition will get them plenty of business. Welcome to shopping in the 21st Century people.

They don't have any movies and I don't think any games either. It's all electronics.

The only reason I knew they were still around was because they were still sending me e-mails on there deals on T.V's

From what I hear they don't have as good of a selection of merchandise as the REAL Circuit City used to have. But then again they're not really Circuit City are they?

Seems like they spam me more. Not really worrying since I put them on my blacklist so the filter keeps grabbing them.

+1 to that. I unsubscribed from all Circuit City emails before the B&M store went under. But when the online shop opened up, they started emailing me again, which is a violation of the CAN-SPAM Act (I would know, as I'm an investor and co-owner of a legit email marketing company).

I've tried no less than 3 times to unsubscribe from this "new" mailing list. Each time, they confirm my opt-out, but then a week later I start getting emails from them again. Pissing me off... about ready to file a complaint.

Bottom line: CircuitCity.com, for an online store, is no better than anyone else out there. Amazon.com FTW.
