Default Best Buy v. Circuit City

I went to Best Buy to get a price match for the 17.99 BD that Circuit City had in this weeks sales ad and they stated they were not price matching CC since they are going out of business. Anyone else have this issue?

I have not had an issue, but i read an article that stated that stores would not be price matching CC since they are liquidating everything.

it's to be expected. Best Buy's price match guarantee specifically says it won't match close-outs.

Best Buy no longer has to price match CC, some of them will do it if the price is still in their ad but other than that no

Best buy wins. I saw this coming with CC, hey had just as bad customer service, not knowledgable employees, and higher prices! Bye bye. I feel sorry for the 35,000 loosing there jobs though, that is no joking matter.

I never PM'd anything to CC anyway so no biggie to me. Just glad I have a Fry's nearby to keep BB honest.

Their demise was very evident in my area. When they first announced problems they were in the process of building a new store which they moved into. During the holidays when I was looking for BD I would go in there and their selection was less than a tenth of their DVDs and they had few of the ones advertised. No One there seemed to care and there were no customers in there ever. I would go to BB and they had a nice collection of Bd plus the store was always busy.

that's because CC doesn't exist no more. The name does, but the company is done. The liquidation company owns it now. so of course they won't honor it.

I was just in a CC today.. the best sales they were offering were 10% off of regular prices. that's it, 10%, nothing more. hardly anyone was buying anything. I left empty handed... the deals are horrible in their liquidation sales.

No one is going to PM CC prices anymore because they are in liquidation.

Will CC even honor their latest ad? I was under the impression that they won't, because the company is now in different hands. If that's the case, it's no wonder other stores won't PM the ad either.

I was in CC yesterday, they had 30% off furniture, accessories, and a couple other things that weren't worthwhile, 20% off CD's and DVD's, and 10% off everything else. Not like that is much better than a straight 10% but I'm hoping they will bump that up. There are a few things that I wouldn't mind saving 30-40% on.

My local CC had a sign that said they would still honor the ad prices for this week. Maybe it's different store to store depending on the liquidation staff?

I wouldn't count on it, as I've heard it go both ways. Definitely a YMMV thing, at least this week. After this week, all bets are off.
