Post Home Theater Cable Connection Questions

Note:Best buy says they will supply basic speaker cables to connect the speakers to the receiver, but I want to know if there are better quality cables other than the ones best buy supplies, I already know a few types of cables I will need to buy they are in the list below.

I have read a little about the cables I need but not a lot so if I don't respond to this thread for a few days I'm just reading up on information about the cables I need. I know to use HDMI cables where ever possible.

Cables That need to be bought

Video Cables

1.HDMI Cables (2)
One that goes from the Receiver to the TV
One that goes from the Sony Playstation 3 To the receiver

2.Component Cables (3)
Nintendo Gamecube Component Cable *
Nintendo Wii Component Cable
Sony Playstation Portable Component Cable

I know you might be thinking why hook up the Nintendo Gamecube when I have a Nintendo Wii,I have two hardware items that don't work with the Nintendo Wii,The two items are the Gameboy Player and the Broadband adapter.

Video Cable Questions

1.I have a Sega Dreamcast that still works and that I still use,I have been using the red, white, yellow audio and video cables that came with it what is the best type of Video Cable to use when hooking it up to the receiver?

I apologize in advance if I am not allowed to ask this question but where can I buy first party Nintendo Gamecube Component Cables around this price range 20$-34$, you can PM me the link if you want.

Thanks In Advance For your Replys

Hey, just be advised that only the first run GameCubes were compatible with component cables... If it was a second run gamecube, that functionality was removed. Check your model number before you buy them

Both are sources for cables as good or better than Best Buy at prices that are WAY better than BB. Check Amazon for great prices on cables and wire too. Avoid Monster like the plague. Whatever you do - don't pay local retail for your cables and speaker wire. The retail markup is absolutely obscene.

The original Gamecubes will have a Digital AV out port next to the analog out. I have tried to get them in the past on Ebay. The only ones available were from Japan.

Post About Gamecube

1.I have confirmed I have a gamecube with the Digital A/V Out Port

2.Is there any place where I can get Nintendo Gamecube component cables a little cheaper I don't want to pay a lot for the cables?

The Cables on Ebay are way Over Priced.

As far as HDMI cables are concearned....

$0.01 HDMI to about $10 HDMI will all be about the same quality, $20-$60 will be about the same, $70-$120 about the same and $130 and up you'll have to sit and play with until you find something you are visually attracted to.

The blu -ray player will need an HDMI, The PS3, your computer most likely needs the HDMI,

Most other sources like the Wii and earlier gaming techs are only 480p so s-video and components will be enough for those.

The composities, the red whit and yellows you want to put into your reciver to get an upscale otherwise you will only get 480i and 4x3 formating.

Can't go wrong with monoprice or several of the under $10 cables found on sites like Amazon. I used the Cables-to-Go from Amazon for $10 w/free shipping and haven't a problem with either. Great stuff.
