Direct TV HD/DVR problems

I recently switched to Direct Tv and I have an hd dvr in the main room and for some reason it has a good amount of lag, i will hit guide and 1-2 seconds later or sometimes more the guide will finally pop up, that is just an example this is with every button I push, except volume up and down which controls the TV. My wuestion is. Is there any easy fiz for this? Havent tried anything yet and I had to go to work so no time to call them either, just wanted to get some input from people who have direct tv and may hvae had the same problem or know how ot fix it, thanks again
