Default Can my PS3's optical out break (or cable.. yes)

Can my PS3's optical out break? I moved my sh*t around to clean up a little. But now my PS3 won't send out audio. My settings and connections are right. I'm just wondering if it's the cable or PS3.

Off to Wal Mart for a cable.

I better receive great customer service, or someone wil get hurt.

It's certainly possible to break anything. If you moved the unit around while the cable was plugged in you could have easily damaged the connector. Look to see if the end of the cable is lit up when it is on.

Are you telling him to look into the light coming out of the end of a fiber optics strand? Free Lasik for everyone.

since optical is glass... id say theres a higher percentage of you damanging / breaking the connection on the cable rather than the ps3...

I disconnected everything before cleaning and moving around everything. When I connect the optical cable to the PS3, the light is coming through the cable. The light is on when the PS3 is on.

Well not look directly at it. I was assuming some common sense but then again maybe I was assuming too much? =P

At any rate I don't think the light in optical audio is that bright anyway compared to looking at an actual laser and certainly no where near a surgical laser.

If you stared at the laser light long enough it may cause damage. But this isn't a high powered laser that burns through things. If it was it would have to be enclosed and there would be labels all over the device to ensure you didn't look directly into it.

Most likely since it isn't labeled or enclosed then it wouldnn't do any harm even if you were dumb enough to stare at it.
