Default "300" on Amazon - concerns?

Anyone else bothered by the fact that Amazon lists "300" as "Currently unavailble" as opposed to the usual "Available for Pre-order"? So far I haven't seen the release date move, but I can order "Purple Rain" right now but not "300".

Hmm.

OK, so an Amazon problem and not a "300" problem. I searched for issues w/ "300" itself and didn't find this issue.

It appears to be multiple sites that are not listing 300 for pre-order. I would say studio problems. They haven't given permissions, or whatever they need to do, to allow these websites to list it for pre-order.

Definately not amazon, they're not the only ones.

300 is going to be delayed because dual layer HD DVDs are "science fiction". Sure, there's a lot of dual layer HD DVDs out there, but that doesn't mean squat. Microsfot is subsidizing everything, and it is yet to be proven that dual layer HD DVD are nothing more than special runs in limited capacity.

I am, of course, being sarcastic.

Curiously, I can't get the Warner Hi-def site to allow a sale for either the Blu-ray or HD DVD editions. It was handling sales a few weeks back and lots of folks on AVMS were making purchases.

They were initially listed as pre order, but was pulled because they made a mistake an listed the sale price for like $10 and they have not changed it back. Check the previous 300 thread where everyone was talking about it.

i dont understand why they would release the same movie in both BLU-RAY and HD-DVD and make the blu-ray version with less features/extras than hd-dvd..what gives?

Is the HD-DVD version releasing on dual layer and the BR version as single layer? Alternatively, if they are using dual layer BDs, have they upped the conversion bitrate? Only then the missing extras would make sense.

Because Blu-ray can't currently do the PiP stuff Warner is adding to the HD DVD.

They could do the normal Warner move and simply not release it until after the end of October, when Profile 1.1 is required to be supported on newly released models.
