I have thought about going that route myself from what I have gathered its a big upgrade but you really need s good smp to push the a9's cause they are power hungry.

I heard a pair of these a while back, and really liked them. They had been set up well by the guys in store and were imaging really well. They had them running off a denon 4308 that was being pushed quite hard. I'd love to hear them with a power amp, they gave me the feeling that they'd really respond well...

I never heard these, but I sure would like too. What is the usual price range for these particular speakers right now?

Those LSi15's are VERY power hungry and run at 4 Ohms. I don't think that your 806 would drive them very well.

I would stick with the A9's.

That's the same point I was going to bring up. I think the rest of Polk's speakers are 8 Ohm, and would be much easier on your receiver.

Very good advice. To get the most out of the Lsi's you definitely need a power amp. If one was to go with the RTia's a power amp could be added at your leisure.

IMO the lsi25/15's take a fair bit of set-up to get the bass right. I much preferred the lsi9's (bookshelves) with a decent sub.

RTi's it is then. I intend to add a power amp down the road but it will be nice (ie easier on the pocket) if i can do the speakers now and the amp later.

thanks for the input all

I hope you'll post pics of the new RTiA9s when you get them.

You can definitely do the speakers now and the amp down the road or not at all. I have the A9s matched with the Outlaw RR 2150 and dont even feel the need to add more power. The 2150 is conservatively rated at 100 WPC and it's all good.
