I disagree with Batman Returns being so high on the list. I happen to think it shouldn't be on the list at all. Otherwise the list is pretty good. I would switch the top two also.

+1. IMO Batman Returns is nothing when compared to the first. Ok movie, but not nearly as good

Let's see:

I didn't even know they made an Airplane 2

Expected Back to the Future 2 to be a little higher, top 20 at least.

Surprised X2 is so much higher than Spider-Man 2 (and that X2 is that high in general)

At the top of my list would be:

Terminator 2
The Dark Knight
Empire Strikes Back
Superman II

How in the blue hell can anyone say that Temple of Doom is a better movie than Last Crusade?

I think I agree with number 1, and for the most part like the films mentioned. I would change a few things for sure, I think Blade 2 is awful and shouldn't be on there, and Lethal Weapon 2 should be in the top 10, maybe even top 5 for me.

I agree with some of it, disagree with some of it.

The Two Towers should be on there somewhere.

It says they did not include LOTR because it was more of a continuous movie in 3 parts and not true sequel formed movie. They also excluded Kill Bill for this reason.

Halloween III? HALLOWEEN F***IN' III!? It is BY FAR the worst Halloween movie. There was a reason they brought Michael Myers back for Halloween 4.

I like Temple, but it's not better than Crusade. You can make a pretty convincing argument that Crusade is the best Indy flick. I don't think that, but I wouldn't argue against it. Can't say the same for Temple.

Other than that, pretty decent list.

Then you, sir, are no William Shatner fan:

Not too darn bad a replication, considering it wasn't written/directed by the Zuckers, tries too hard for first-movie callback jokes, and the real Zuckers were busy with "Police Squad".

On the plus side, they remembered Halloween III and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey...

Yes, Halloween F***in' III:
The one where John Carpenter paid loving geek-tribute to the Quatermass series, because he'd always wanted to do his own homage to "Five Million Years to Earth", but Nigel Kneale took his name off the screenplay after Tommy Lee Wallace made a slasher-pandering mess out of it.

And fans (like, ahem, some I could mention... ) who didn't know Quatermass from a hole in the ground thought it was supposed to be a "sequel" and went into rage-tantrums of "Huh?"

(Yes, as a matter of fact there was: Compass Pictures went under, Dimension Pictures bought out the franchise, and made up their own unimaginative fraud sequel-wannabes, Terminator style.)

But I digress...On the downside:
Lost World: Jurassic II? French Connection II? Temple of Doom in the top 20?? Return to Oz???
New Nightmare outranking Elm Street 3? Day of the Dead outranking Dawn Of by ten places???

This is the first time I've ever heard or read anyone defend Halloween III.

Just because Carpenter wanted to pay homage to something doesn't mean anyone has to like it. And it sure as hell doesn't have to bare the name of Halloween. If Halloween III had been Halloween II he might have gotten away from it. But he had stamped the franchise as having Laurie run from Michael, so when people see or hear that Halloween III doesn't have Michael Myers they wonder why.

Call me crazy but when I see the name Nightmare on Elm Street I expect to see Freddy Kruger. When I see Friday the 13th I expect Jason Voorhees. I feel the same way about Halloween and Michael Myers.

If your was aimed at me, that's fine. I have no idea what Quartermass is and to be honest, I really don't care. If that puts me in the group of "rage-tantrum" fans because I though Halloween III sucked, so be it.

I'm also well aware that the sequels following Halloween III weren't very good, but I never said they should be included on the list. I also don't think Halloween III should be, or for that matter Halloween II.

My displeasure came from the fact that Halloween III was placed on a list of the 50 greatest sequels. I don't happen to agree so I voiced my opinion. There were plenty others that I disagreed with. For example:

Shrek 2
Lost World
Mission: Impossible III
Return to Oz
The Color of Money (and I'm about the biggest Paul Newman fan there is and I don't even like this movie)
New Nightmare (which I like fine enough, but it's not a top-20 sequel)

I'm sure there are plenty of people who like these movies, I just don't happen to be one of them.

I also had a problem with some of the movies Halloween III was ranked ahead of. No one will ever be able to convince me that Halloween III is better than Christmas Vacation or Hellboy II. However, some might see it that way (obviously the people at Empire are in that category); I do not.

Hmm... not saying there great or anything but no love for Pirates or Matrix sequels.

I'd bump a few movies off that list for at least a couple of those films.
