It most definitely will help Blu-Ray to obliterate HD-DVD though when people see media priced the same and then realize they already have a Blu-Ray player at home in their PS3. |

LoL, if disc pricing will be the same, it'll be up to the ammount and price of the equipment. There Blu-ray has an advantage, since it has more manufacturers backing the technology.

There is no technical reason why the drives shouldn't cost the same. The hardware is basically the same except for the shape of a small lens, however while blu ray works co-operativly together there can be big savings in ecconomy of scale. |

Hardware pricing is where a lot of questions remain. Sony can afford to sell their PS3s at a loss knowing that they'll recoup their costs with licensing fees from all PS3 games made. They also have a big movie studio to help them sell millions of BD movies to recover costs of selling their hardware for a loss if they so choose. Most of the other electronic companies in the BDA do not have this advantage. For them selling their hardware at a loss would be idiotic and suicidal. So we truly have to hope that BD players, recorders, and drives can be produced for similar costs as compared to HD DVD. Otherwise there's a glimmer of hope for HD DVD and I believe that's what they are still in the game. They still see a chance to win it all.

At least it was an amusing flashback. People excited about Chronos for $25. Flash forward to today where you can find people saying they wouldn't want to pay more than $20 for a TV show like Andy Griffith
![]() Wonder why Gorkab hasn't been active since 2011. Were too many people rubbing it in still? ![]() Last edited by Hayabusa85; 05-07-2014 at 11:38 PM. |
