Default digital copies...verification of usage?

Is there anyway we can verify if a digital copy has been used besides actually trying out the code and downloading it to a hard drive. Only asking because I want to make sure I have an unused copy before giving it out to my nephew since my brother would love to have some digital copies to play for him. THANKS!!!

I think the only way to find out is trying out the code first. That's the only way I can think of.

I've never used a digital copy so I wouldn't know, but once you input the code doesnt it automatically become invalid since it has been used to download already?
