Question 1 - The Digital Copies I have range from 1.2GB to 1.7GB.

Question 2 - To entice more people to buy the Blus?

Question 3 - No idea - never tried.

Question 3: Do not discuss as it is illegal to copy them. Such discussions can and will get you banned from this site.

answer to question 2: attempt by studios to cut down on piracy and to make the bluray's more attractive to consumers by offering a free portable version of the movie.

Sorry I did not know it's an issue since it's legal in Holland to make copies for personal use. Won't happen again.

I'm pretty sure it's technically legal to make 1 copy for personal use here too. The question wasn't asked in a way that suggests he was talking about piracy, but rather making a personal back-up. Plus, it was a hypothetical, he wasn't asking how to do it. No need to get worked up about it.

They vary in size. I think studios include them to cut down on piracy and gives the user a portable copy for use. I like the fact that I DON'T have to rip any movies to make a digital copy. It's already included most times. Already formated and good to go. I just download it into iTunes and WHAM - I am done

Will they stay playable forever or is there a usage limit?

There is no play limit but there is a expiration date of when you need to redeem the digital copy

The digital copies are made because the MPAA does not like how people copy movies for their iPods. When you make the copies for your iPod, you break the copy protection which is illegal. These digital copies are the safe and legal way to have it on your iPod. One thing I love about Blu-Ray is that they are putting more digital copies on them over the DVD releases. The digital copy is Standard Definition DVD quality so I can hook my iPod up to my TV and watch since I only have an external Blu-Ray drive for my computer.
