I don't know the credibility of these reports, but life for BDA could get interesting again and presumably slow down the release of Blu Ray as the standards will need to be changed.

I'm not overly concerned. On one hand, HP will probably get the BDA to work with them to get what they want. OTOH, I don't think it'll hurt BD much since every movie studio other than Universal is now pro-BD. Thus, if HP does leave, they'll be back soon enough.

I dont think they should include iHD in Blu-ray. Managed copy yes that fine although I wont need it cause I take good care of my disc. But not iHD and my reason is two fold. First it will make it easier to pirate movies if they do, and that makes me angry cause I feel if people want a copy they need to buy a copy. Second it will tell Microsoft that they have weight in anything they want, that all they have to do is disagree and lie about it and everyone will join them and do what they want, well Microsoft needs to be taken down a little and realize they arent where they are because they are the best, but because theres no choice right now. Stick to your Guns Blu-ray.

Patrick, explain me how will iHD make pirating the discs any easier? It's a feature completely unrelated to copy protection.
I see you posted the same crap on hdbeat.com, so you probably have some explanation for it? Btw, I agree that including iHD as mandatory for players is unreasonable, just not quite for the reason you provide. It'll only make players more complex, having to support both iHD and the Java solution, and will also add confusion when authoring bluray discs - you have to decide which system to base your work off, etc. |
