I've seen a number of demo discs (bundled with Blu-ray players) whereby manufacturers are comparing Blu-ray to regular DVD side by side on a single screen. In these demos, the DVD quality looks much, much worse than Blu-ray.
But i'm a little sus about this -- how is it possible to technically have a fair comparison of DVD and Blu-ray using a single screen and a single blu-ray disc? How do they actually create this comparison? Is it simply a case of them downsampling the Blu-ray image to the number of lines found in a typical DVD, and then placing it next to the original blu-ray sample? Any insights would be grand! |
