Arrow RAIN to Awaken The Dragon?

Quote:
About two years ago this month, the trades reported that Warner Independent Pictures has set "The Shield" exec producer Kurt Sutter to write and make his feature directing debut on "Awaken the Dragon."

A noir-style remake of "Enter the Dragon," the 1973 martial arts classic that made Bruce Lee a global star, Sutter said he's writing "Awaken the Dragon" as a contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs.

Sutter will look to discover a fight star in the role of the monk and cast an established American actor to play the FBI agent.

Well, guess what? I think they found their fight star.

You know who Warner Bros. is gung ho on playing the Monk?

According to my confirmed sources…

Korean megastar RAIN!

Now I know what got Megan Fox going gaga over him. Apparently WB is also going gaga over RAIN after what he did for them in ultra bloody and badass "Ninja Assassin."

I just saw "NINJA ASSASSIN" at Comic Con and both Kellvin and I thought RAIN would have been an awesome Storm Shadow in "G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra." If Ninja Assassin is any indication, great things are in store for RAIN because his presence is undeniable.

Original film starred Lee as a martial artist who's drafted by law enforcement to participate in a martial arts tournament and infiltrate a drug smuggling operation run from the host's heavily guarded island.

"I'm a huge noir fan, and this plot lends itself to the film I want to make," Sutter said. "I wanted to set it in these underground fight clubs where the action is really raw and expose the brutality of Shaolin Kung fu. This will be more 'Raging Bull' than 'Crouching Tiger' in its viciousness."

Interesting.

I'm Korean and the prospect of a Korean martial arts actor becoming an actor of that renown gives me happy thoughts. Here's hoping for the best and I'll be seeing this movie for sure.

I hope WB isn't trying to remake Enter the Dragon, but a movie that captures the spirit. As we all know, some movies are just well better left alone, but this RAIN looks very impressive!

What's so impressive? I've seen much better martial art than that. To me, casting Rain Bi is like casting Justin Timberlake. I'm sorry, but I cannot dissociate his pop singing career from his acting. His bubblegum pop image was forever impregnated in my mind .

Those pics have made me cringe. I didn't even know who he was, now I see him for what he really is. I will still give him a chance, but if they even try to make this kid into another Bruce Lee, I will die laughing.

That's funny - I'm Korean too (half) and I had already left Korea when he got big. My brother who was still in Korea at the time was telling me about how big Rain was and how he was trying to get into the US market. Didn't he cut like an English album or something (I could be wrong).

In any case, I thought he was good in Speedracer - he needs to work a little more on his accent (although better than Jackie Chan - man, sometimes I have such a hard time understanding Jackie).

No one can touch Bruce Lee. If they use the plot of Enter the Dragon I'm fine with, but please don't remake it!

So what happened with him and Megan Fox??

As long as they don't sell it as a remake/reboot of Enter The Dragon I think it will be fine. Otherwise they might just fall flat, you cannot remake Enter The Dragon, the movie is what it is because of who was in it and the time it was made.

It would suck without Bruce Lee in it. Sorry, but I have to stick with the original with this one.

I'm sure by the year 2015 (give or take a year) Hollywood will have remade every movie made before the year 1990 - because all movies made before then suck right!

I'm tired of all these remakes! Too bad, there is no such thing as an original idea now days.

There are just certain movies who are better off the way they are.

Haha, those pictures look like they are trying to make a Final Fantasy tv show or something... probably closer to "or something"

I'm saying saying he looks good as in Bruce Lee good, but I thought that youtube clip was pretty impressive for what it is.

Even though this is a classic and a very good movie it really can be improved upon as there as some weak points.

but honesty it should be left alone. Its a classic and you just can't replace Bruce Lee with anyone so this is a huge mistake.

I wouldn't mind this if it was Stephen Chow. I don't think Rain fits the part because he's Korean. Should have been a Hong Kong native.

Stephen Chow would be a very nice followup to Bruce. He is awesome.
