Default James Newton Howard's- KING KONG score

I was watching this film the other week and I have to confess I love this score. I love it cause it seems to run counter to what i'd expect. Given the big action nature of the film, you'd think that it's musical themes would be indicative of "action music", however I found Newton Howard's score to be more on the romantic side. I felt it gave a greater empathy to the film.

Thoughts?

Great score, although it's apparent he didn't have too much time to write it. I'd still like to know what Howard Shore's music would be like. There was a rumor of a soundtrack release, but I've never heard anything about it.

It would be interesting to hear Howard Shore's score too! I have a sense that Peter Jackson wanted a more romantic score than what Shore may have presented. Ironic as you actually see Shore conducting the symphony in the film during the theater scene.

Yes! that is why for the longest time I tought he had done the score. One of my favorite piece is in Central park when Kong is having a skate Ok scene is a bit cheesie but I love it and the musical score on that is amazing.

Yes, that scene and the scene when he's looking at the sunset with her cradled in his hand. Classic!!

yes that is a lso another great scene. The cinematography on this movie is often overlook. Ok it's mostly CGI but they did a heck of a job on it.

the 5 part beauty killed the beast sequence is my favorite (basically the music that starts right after he climbs the empire state)

Never in my life have I wanted to be an ape except when I watched Kong beat the Tyranossaurs. Just so I could stand over them with the score playing in the background. Awsome! lol

Score was very good, easily the b est part of the movie.. The movie itself I didn't like that much aside from Naomi Watts who was great.
