Don't mean to hijack your thread, but with that package do you actually get a significant amount of out of market games, or are they still subject to tons of blackouts?

No, i don't mean the problem your having. I mean, in general do you get most every game from most every team? That's why i said i didn't wanna hijack your thread, but i've thought about switching to DirectTV just for the MLB package, but don't wanna if i'm gonna get the same 'ol blackout b.s.

The blackout rule is an MLB rule so if a game is blacked out on your current company it will be blacked out with DirectTV.

I really hate the MLB blackout rules. I live in Iowa and we get games blacked out featuring the Twins, Cubs, White Sox, Brewers, Cardinals, and Royals. I don't know how you can consider teams over 300 miles away as a "local" team. Like lacbus mentions, all Saturday afternoon games are blacked out except the game your local Fox station is broadcasting, so you're not likely to see your favorite team if they're out of market.

fatediesel, Do you have HD and the MLB package? if you do, do you have a problem with your HD feed coming on late?

Sorry, your thread got hijacked. However, I usually do go to a sports bar that has the Direct TV HD package at least once a week and watch games and I have never seen the start delayed or any problems with the HD feed.

the only games I can't watch (dtv) are the ones I can find locally or espn has bought the rights to show. For example if the O's play the sox and I want to watch the NESN broadcast then it'll say blackout because they want me to watch my local channel.

But if the yankees play the sox I can choose between YES, and NESN.

So basically any game that isn't on my local channels that they've bought my market rights for I can watch.

*and no I haven't had a problem with games not showing up.

I had the Comcast MLB package and non of the games were in HD. I didn't have the whole season. I was getting it half way through and they still wanted me to pay $169 for 2 months (July/Aug)

Gotcha. So, basically i could watch Cardinal games living down here in Texas, unless they're playing the Astros or Rangers? I have MLB.tv so i get 99% of Cards games now, but it seems silly watching games on my little computer monitor when i have a 61" beaut in the next room.
I agree with fatediesel. MLB needs to get it's sh*t together. Doesn't it make sense to let baseball fans, no matter where they live, to watch the games they wanna watch? Isn't the point to spread the love of baseball and not close it off at every chance? Don't they realize baseball is no longer the number one sport in this country and alot of it has to do with the way they market and sell the sport? I guess they think that if they allowed everyone to watch whatever game they wanted that everyone would gravitate to the bigger market teams or the contenders?

well you could still watch it just on the local cable channel for your area because they bought the rights to show rangers games/astros games

But if for instance the cards were playing the O's you could watch my broadcast from maryland or pick the one from St. Louis because neither has bought rights to show a game in your local market.
