Question $350-$400 budget..suggestions please

looking to get a sub (as you can see in my signature i am leaning towards the a2-300)

i never hear mention of the a3-250 at this price point however, is it because the top of the line a2 is better than the low end a3?

also, are there other subs in this price point worth mentioning? i would say $400 is my absolute MAX

i would also like to say that i only want one subwoofer and dont plan on ever getting dual subwoofers...

thanks.

EDIT: also keep in mind i live in canada...so 350 to you yankees is not 350 around here

Yep, the A2-300 has better low end excursion than the A3-250. The A3-250 is for space constraints, per eD.

The Acoustic Audio, Premier Acoustics, and BIC subs offer a great value at the less than $300 price point. In the $300 to $400 range, I believe this to be the best you can get. And yes I own one, so I am biased. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a great performer though.

Ditto....I agree with what Jason stated 100%. I do not own one, but there are just way tooo many members here with one that luv theirs, that they can't all be wrong. Plus they have a rep who posts in the eD sub Thread and their customer service is top notch from what I understand.

I had a $400 budget a year and a half ago and went with an A2-300 and have not regretted it for a single day.

I still smile when I am watching a BD and the bass kicks in.

I have demoed a number of subs over the years and the A2-300 is the best value IMHO under $400. The second best option would be to get 2 PA-120's or two BIC F12's.

You can also look THESE subs. They have gotten very good feedback for their build quality and performance over on avsforum and there are a few very good professional reviews out there as well. Some of the reviews posted measurements too and they were pretty impressive. The eD is an excellent choice, but these are worth considering also. I've been eying these myself after heavily researching them.

I have almost the exact same thread a few posts down.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=107300

It's a excellent list and gives some very good advice.

So I'm sure even you could find something with that funny money for under 350

I've heard alot of good about the ascendent audio HD line. Which I believe is what I'm gonna try out

So, you don't wear jeans? These are the trendiest one out there. Imagine what all your friends and co-workers will say when you show up in these.

This may be where Obama got his "mom" jeans.

It will probably take a month give or take a week or two. Trust me, it's worth it!

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

those are the right cables, correct?

12 ft is enough headroom to experiment for positioning in my room

and the y adaptor is correct being 2 Male and 1 Female for connecting one subwoofer, correct?

There is no such thing as enough as far as sub cables are concerned.

One of the sub cables in my room is 60 ft long and it is too short if I want to hide it properly. I am already thinking about adding an extension.

The sub cable is correct. The Y adapter is not correct.

Y Adapters
You can buy the solid type Y adapter or the cable Y adapter.

Y Adapter (2 male, 1 female): This Y adapter is used to connect the sub cable from the back of the receiver to both the Right and Left inputs on the back of the subwoofer. On many subs, this will give a few additional dB's of sound output.

Higher Quality from Cable Simple: $4.48 + Shipping

http://www.cablesimple.com/index.php...oducts_id=5001

Y Adapter (1 male, 2 female): This Y adapter is used for connecting two subwoofers to the receiver. You insert the male side to the LFE out (sub out or sub pre-out) on the back of the receiver and connect two sub cables to the female sides (one for each sub).

thanks a lot big daddy! i almost went through with the checkout before reading your post

so what exactly was that cable i was getting before?

also, would you suggest the solid type or cable type Y adapter? or is it merely a matter of preference as opposed to sound quality/build?

The Y cables you were getting did not have RCA connectors.

One end of the Y cable you were getting was the same type you use for headphones on many portable gear and some computer audio cards.
