This will be no big deal to most of you, but I finally have some blu-ray relatives to buy movies for. My brother finally bought a blu-ray player and a receiver. (Welcome to the 21st Century pal.) My parents are really old. (I think in their early 60s now. ) So I bought them a 47" LG HD TV, a cool looking TV stand and a panny blu-ray player, along with a bunch of new blu-rays to watch. Yup! They are picking their collective jaws up off of the floor just like I did for the first couple months of being new to blu.

So anyway, it was kind of tough to be the only AV geek in the family. If I can't turn em all into geeks (so I can feel better about myself of course) of their own volition, I would simply buy their way into the club. Its nice to see everyone enjoying their new AV Toys! Seeing the surprise and shock on their faces of just how awesome HD is, really takes me back to when blu was new and makes it all worth it.

My brother and I pitched in a bought our parents a HDTV and Sony BD player. Now I wish we got them a PS3. I know that they'll never play video games but if I ever download a movie, I can just put it on a thumb drive and play it there instead of burning to a dvd or lugging my PS3 over there.

You must be really old.

J/k

My Father is a techie freak has a thing about technology that makes him go on the hunt for the most complicated piece of gadget even I can't figure out. My mother has no idea how to turn the TV on, I really do feel bad for her.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. My sister and brother-in-law finally went and bought an HDTV and blu-ray player a couple of days ago. No sound system yet, but they're finally moving in the right direction. Now they'll be wanting to borrow my blu-rays.

That is nice to be able to do I went so far as to buy 2 friends PS3's so they could join the present One helped lay down a kitchen floor with me and the other as a house warming gift. Now they call my house "Billbuster" when they are browsing for movies to borrow, lol.

gotta love letting someone enjoy Blu's for the first time

My family and some of my close friends give one of my friends a really hard time because the first time I let him watch a Blu at my house he flipped out and kept saying "Its sooo clear!" through the entire movie with his jaw open. We will never let him live that one down, hahahahaha
