Pirates and the Sony BDP-S300 - Blu-ray Forum

To those who have the Sony BDP-S300 (myself included):
Are any of you having any problems with loading either "Pirates" movies into the S300?
I do not have either of the "Pirates" BDs, but I am interested in getting the Japanese imported BD of "Dead Man's Chest" for it's English DTS Surround (of course, the Japan disc is Region A).

Well problem? NOt necessarily a problem, but it takes a heck of a long time, about 2 minutes to load. It works never the less.

OK, that sounds OK to me. It takes about that long for my League of Extraordinary Gentlemen BD to load into the S300.
Otherwise, my Aeon Flux BD and Ice Age 2 BD both load quickly into the S300. They all (LXG, too) look and sound AWESOME!!!!

Why import for DTS?

The US version has high bitrate AVC video and 24 bit PCM.

Slow initial load, then everything is peppy after that. with my Sammy bdp1000 it not only loaded slow (slightly faster than the 300) but then the menu's were sluggish.

Yeah, about 2 mins to load each movie, no problems with play back. 2 mins is acceptable to me, I just pop the disc in, go in the kitchen and get a snack.

After the disc starts playing sound and picture are outstanding, so why get import?
