so far the ps3 has had five of them, all of them scoring rather low!
heres igns scores for them.

Spider Man 3 .... 6/10
Transformers .... 5.7/10
Harry Potter .... 7.6/10 not to bad..
Pirates 3 .... 5.2/10
Fantastic Four 2 .... 5.4/10

I'd read the review of Transformers off IGN on the 26th June, and began reconsidering whether pre-ordering it had been a good idea! Anyway, I got Transformers for the PS3 yesterday, and I actually think its quite good! Yes, the same kind fo content again and again is somewhat repetative, but i think it should of got more than a 5.7! I think a 7-8 is probably more like it!

I never go with reviews anyway! I find it's always better to see things for yourself... after all, not everyone is the same!

yea i can agree with that..

i got spider man and beleive that it should of got more than a 6! story good and graphics are good Even tho framrate is terrible, and on 360 it is fine
Although u have to agree with the reviews abit

it never seems like they put large amounts of effort into these games

Meh... this is only my opinion, but when has a game based on a movie ever been good? Ok, maybe I shouldn't say "ever," but it is a rare occurance. Games like these are quickly slapped together, and pushed out to market to capitalize on the release of the big budget film that it is based upon. Developers know it will sell, regardless of how crappy the game is, simply because it has the same title and licensing with your aforementioned blockbusters. These games are mediocre at best, and will continue to be,until consumers stop buying them, demanding better quality movie license games... but that won't happen

Game Informer actually gave the PS3 & 360 versions of Spidey 3 an 8 and an 8.5 on their "2nd Look". So people can disagree.

Actually after having played both, I think the graphics were far better on the PS3 than the 360.

Developers making movie games tend to focus on integrating parts of the movie so that fans will automatically want to play the movie. Interesting new or especially well-done gameplay mechanics aren't present.

Better developers usually have their own ideas for original IP games or sequels to their own IP so don't usually take on movie games.

Edit: It's also usually the larger publishers that have a lot of weaker developers that pay out for movie-game rights. Delaying movie games far beyond the movies release is often not an option so they're rushed out.

Yeah, movie gamers are rarely 'perfect'.

I was a fan of all the other Spiderman games, so I liked this one enough, and would rate it higher than most.

A lot of Transformers fans liek the game enough to call it a 'decent' game. I played it set up in the store, and didnt like the controls. But Boy was it sure nice to look at.

Most reviews I read say the Harry Potter game is great for hardcore fans. I plan on picking it up.

I hated the Pirates game, but I also hated the second 2 movies, so I didnt expect too. I've spoken with a couple hardcore fans that really liked it though.

The first FF game was horrible too, so I dont think most were expecting much from this one.

So I guess its just best to say 'to each his own'. Dont forget, critics are just regular people too

You're absolutely right that it is because these games are rushed. Think about it... most movie games don't begin development until only a year or so before the release. Blockbuster games like World of Warcraft or Quake (popular games that got great reviews) were 3-5 years in the making! That's a huge disparity which means you'll get a less impressive end-product with shorter dev times.

Now, once the franchise is established, there's no reason the games shouldn't get better and better with each sequel because they can tweak the game engines or re-write them in anticipation of the next one. I think the Harry Potter games are a testament to that... Order of the Phoenix is actually quite good (if just a tad boring at times).
