Arrow DVDs you don't watch in anticipation of the Blu-ray version.

Naturally, during the format war I received Transformers on DVD and watched it at least a couple of times. But when Transformers for blu-ray was announced I refused to watch it again until I had the blu-ray in my hot little hands. Waited months and months.

I kept putting off watching Finding Nemo on DVD because the release date for BD kept dangling in front of us like a lure. Was fortunate enough to catch the HD broadcast over the weekend, so I will not watch the DVD now.

Shark Tale in HD is broadcasting this weekend, so that is another DVD I won't watch any time soon. The Incredibles broadcasts in HD every Christmas season so that is yet another DVD I put off watching.

Which movies do you refuse to watch in anticipation of the blu-ray or HD broadcast?

I think it's silly to refuse to watch movies you own and love. Sure, a better version is coming down the road, but why not enjoy what you have while you've got it?

By your rationale, you should never watch anything, because a better version is always on the horizon....

Meh, I do it. It helps make the movie "fresh" and "new". Do you watch the same movie every day for a week? No, you rotate 'em in.

I usually only do it for announced titles- Braveheart, Gladiator for instance.

I have not watched a DVD of any kind for myself in 2+ years.

The only ones are kids movies.

My girlfriend wanted to watch Revenge of the Sith on Saturday night after the past few movies we'd watched together were blu-rays. And it was just noticeably more "fuzzy" and "blurry" - not as much detail. I could've totally waited, but she wanted to watch it. Oh, c'mon Geoge Lucas....

Because you can watch it in high def.

Unlike some of you who can watch the same thing over and over, I like a little "forgetting time" so I can't anticipate the whole movie.

I watched Logan's Run a few months ago. I did so because I had no idea the blu-ray was coming. I also wanted to remember Farrah Fawcett as her youthful, beautiful self while she was still alive, though it was a bit part. Harder to enjoy movies when favorite characters are recently deceased.

Keep in mind, I am old enough to recall hearing about HDTV in 1985! Waited 18 years to actually own one in 2003. So yeah, while I believe heaven is a wonderful place, there are some things you can only experience here on earth.

I still watch whatever DVDs I have if they are films I want to see, and I don't own the Blu-ray.

Heck, I will watch a DVD I have even if the film has been released on Blu-ray, because I don't want to wait for Netflix for it.

I watched Platoon a few nights ago..... Somewhere between the lines of resolution, and sound permeating my frontal lobe, a story was being told....... CRAZY......

Actually, I don't really watch DVDs anymore. But I refuse to watch Van Helsing until the Blu-Ray release.

I'm personally holding out on watching Moulin Rouge...that movie deserves to get some BD treatment!

But obviously you'd prefer the BD version or you wouldn't be here, no? Sure, I watch the movie for the story, but amazing visuals and audio make the ride more fun. It's a bit of denial to make the reward more sweet, is all. I still pull out my EE LoTR DVD's, and will until they're officially announced.

I don't even like that movie, and I agree. My wife loves it, and a really good PQ/AQ treatment would be pretty awesome for a flick that rich.

About the only DVDs I watch nowadays are tv shows. I don't intentionally neglect DVD movies it just kinda happened. As some of you will probably agree....when you have an large blu collection, DVD just kinda gets overlooked.

I also tend to not watch the DVD if I know a Blu is on the way.

I have actually been watching my DVDs on my computer while I am working out. My computer doesn't ahve a Blu-ray player or I would be watching those. That is the only time, since I purchased a Blu-ray player, that I have watched a DVD.
