United Kingdom The Passion of the Christ pre-order up now

Released on 22nd March, presumably in the run up to Good Friday and Easter. Very cheap for a Blu-ray as well at £7.99 on HMV, unless Icon Entertainment assume it's going to be a pretty low-selling title. I mean, visually it was already a pretty horrible experience on DVD, do we really need to watch it with any more detail? Still, I might consider it. It is a pretty important film (if you believe the story, of course), and I'd like to see some extras.

That's why I didn't opt for the 2 disc DVD. The 1 disc set doesn't have that problem, but of course, there's no bonus features on it.

Didnt realise Icon now have the rights to this film. If my memory is correct, Fox had the rights to this film for the DVD Release.

EDIT ----- Seems that now that Icon have the rights, they are re-releasing the DVD and putting out a BD. Not sure if they have managed to get hold to the rights to the extras. This could be barebones if not.

It pays to shop-around.

Might think about buying it, since I have two versions of it on DVD and it’s only watched once a year.

Most dvd drives (also the ones in Blu-ray players) can be made region free via the remote, maybe it's worth checking into that.

The topic of SDH subtitles in movies is something that can be explored with mutual respect in the appropriate thread. Lets keep the discussion to "The Passion of the Christ".

My copy was dispatched from Play yesterday, hopefully I should get it on Monday. Not too fussed about perfect quality as it's already a horrible film to look at (though I don't want a lazy transfer or anything), but I look forward to seeing some extras at last.

Anyone know the region coding on this? Cheaper to import from Amazon UK than buy from Amazon.com

From the back of the case, it's Region B locked.

Haven't bought this yet, but did pick it up in a store yesterday.
I can confirm its definitely 2 discs, with the second disc being a theatrical.

The blu-ray has two cuts on it. A watered down version for violence, and the full extended edition.

What were the list of full special features? I might be able to remember what I saw on the back of the case then.

This is only information taken from the back of the case, I have yet to go through both discs themselves yet. But it is 2 discs, Disc 1 is a Blu-ray, with two versions of the film (the original and the one that was edited down slightly for the graphic violence), Enhanced Viewing Mode with Biblical Footnotes, audio commentaries with Mel Gibson, filmmakers and Theologians, and more (but I don't know what more is on it yet). Disc 2 is a standard DVD with three hours of special features including: exclusive documentary by his wounds we are healed, The making of, the legacy featurette, still photo galleries featuring production art and unit photography, deleted scenes and trailers. I don't know if these are ALL the special features from any previous release, I had only ever owned the vanilla disc DVD before. And finally, there are both English and English SDH subtitles.
