Default PS3 FAT/Slim question - game saves/PSN

For those who have a PS3 and are planning on getting a new PS3 Slim, I would like to ask the following;

Wouldn’t it be a good idea for game saves to be stored on a server? (Optional, of course, as not everyone is connected to the internet)

The reason I ask is if I decide to get a Slim, I wouldn’t want to be restricted to playing games on the one machine. My PS3 FAT is in my living room where I watch my Blu-rays and play my games. Should the Slim go in to my bedroom, and I wanted to say play some Uncharted 2 but had started playing it on my FAT, wouldn’t it be handy to have the game save online so that I could just pop in U2 and continue the game when I log in to the Playstation Network, even though I started playing it on a different machine? Sure, I can use a USB key and copy the game save across, but I wouldn’t want to be doing that every time.

If this even possible?! (Is this sounding a bit like OnLive?!)

Also, if I am logged on to the PSN through my FAT and I then go in to my bedroom and want to check something in the store on my Slim, can I log in even though I am logged in downstairs? Will the FAT automatically log off? Or will I be able to log in to the PSN on both at the same time?!

Thanks!

What is the reason for it not happening? Just not possible? Or something else? Why are saves protected?

Some game companies just choose to lock their game saves like Capcom as for why I don't know but I do remember Atari did the game save lock with Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit also. So I guess in other words it's up to the game company if they want to lock those game saves or not on their games.

Unless you've got a FIOS or T1 connection, getting even a 1MB save file uploaded to a server would take quite some time - longer than most people would like to wait.

I do agree it'd be nice as an option, but Sony would have to host those saved games, and it wouldn't resolve the problem of games that used Protected save files either (I'm looking at you, Rock Band 2...).
