Looks like the Sammy can be had for $924 delivered via Amazon with the $175 instant discount discussed here,
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=110711

If they were they same price and size I would go for the Panny. Given that you can get the larger 50" screen AND get it for $175 cheaper. I say go for the bigger screen.

Can't imagine having remorse over going for the larger screen.

I would feel very comfortable buying either set from Amazon.

wow I was about to start a thread on the same topic. I prefer Panasonic but the Sammy is bigger and both sets are really good. Question: Is the Sammy 550 the competition of the Panny G10 or for the S1? I've looked for reviews and two "trusty" sites have different opinions, it seems as if one of them is biased maybe? CNET vouches completely for Panasonic while www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com vouches for the Sammy. I think I would go for the Sammy

I've experienced both companies' customer service, and I will never buy another Samsung product again. I will, however, always recommend that people buy Panasonic with complete confidence.

Take that for what it's worth.

It's really interesting that all the people that I know that own/owned a Samsung television never recommend the company because of its horrible customer service.

That being said, I love Panasonic and will always recommend the brand.

I know what you mean...guess customer service equals problems on your set..which translates to headaches which no one including me wants! I have had my own share of experiences with Sammy's lousy customer service and I too would not suggest it to someone..be he/she a friend or a foe.

In addition, I do feel that the build quality on Sonys and Pannys are far better than on Sammys as well.

Does anyone on this forum prefer samsung than panasonic? It seems that asking that in here is useless. No offense at all, I own both brands and I'm extremely happy with my Panny. I've never had to call customer service on either, still Samsung make very impressive sets. It shouldn't bee discarded so soon quickly.

I love Samsung, and the next set I buy will be a Samsung based solely on picture quality. I also feel that Samsungs in general just look nicer in the living room (except for some of the gaudy new Red ToC panels). That is my totally biased opinion

Congrats on the new set.

Ceva delivered my tv many months ago when i got my 50". The guy unpacked it and plugged it in then waited for me to inspect it. Excellent service from my experience.
