France Does This Look Genuine? (DUNE on Blu-ray)

I'm sceptical this is really a Blu-Ray release but thought I would post to see if anyone else has ordered anything from this site.

Yeah it is genuine.. I have Dune on Blu-Ray and although I live in UK I have a USA PS3 and although the film plays all the special features are region locked so don't play on US PS3.
I don't mind though as happy to have Dune in 1080p.

Well if it's available then why doesn't Amazon have it? Seems kind of weird to me.

Very strange indeed. Real or not, I'll wait till they are released through a more mainstream distributor with a reasonable price. I also want Dune and Children of Dune (SciFi movies) along with the David Lynch release.

I didn't know about the site until today. I will wait until the movie is released for the United States. $40 is a bit much for any movie in my opinion.

That is fine but realize that a movie like Dune may not come out in America for a couple of years.

Default Exploited.com is great for the Imports

Xploited is great a few weeks back i ordered all these Imports and he shipped them Friday I had them in the mail Monday! But I think I did faster shipping Priority I think.

I ordered

Bugsy Malone
Capricorn One
Abba the Movie
Escape to Athena
Boys from Brazil

I know on many imports and regular DVDs they won't be re-stocking many of them once they are sold due to poor sales recently. (i think that is what I read.) Never the less it would be cool for them to keep stocking the imports since they are great to have in the U.S.

and I ordered the import of In the Company of Wolves from a ebay seller in the UK.

This movie is completely sick.

I have the steelbook DvD and I watch it all the time.

I love the Director's cut.

Any word on how this French release compares with Universal's HDDVD?

I've been meaning to upgrade my copy of Dune from the (excellent, for SD) French DVD I bought a few years ago, and can't quite decide wether to pick up the Universal HDDVD, wait for a Blu-Ray release (at twice the price, but with Lossless sound, and possibly a different/better encode and more/less extras (Universal's catch-up End of Days omits a lot of extras)) or get the French.

Can someone share their thoughts on the quality of the French release and the Universal HDDVD?

Excellent link, thanks.

I think I'll go for the French. That first screencap, especially, seems to show a lot more detail & grain in the French blu-ray.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but I've noticed that there's no information about the LENGHT of the French Blu Ray version. Is it the Theatrical 130 something minutes, or the extended 170 something minutes?

How about the HD release? Was it the extended version?

Also, I want some opinions about how good the extended version is, in terms of making the movie better (or not).

I remember that I didn't like the movie (short version) when I watched it many years ago, but I'm willing to give it another try.

It will be the theatrical version which IS the directors cut, same as the HD DVD.
The extended TV version is not a directors cut just a TV version which is missing the sickest scene withe the heart plug and is padded out with extended and duplicated takes.

The longest and best version narrative wise is the "reconstructed workprint" fan edit which has the full Lynch cut plus his deleted scenes. Not great quality tho.

BTW as I previously posted there is a German release of Dune coming later this year as well.
