Dune Blu-ray

I just saw the french version being reviewed on bluray.com and the screen shots did look fantastic for the film. Im just wondering when its going to get a uk release! Does any one know? any rumours?

I know some one will say buy the french version because it does have english and french languages on the disc. But Im very picky/fussy when it comes to buying bluray films or should i say the packaging. I want a cover that has english writting on the box. Hopefully that doesn't sound Anti french

This was an individual project by Opening, and to the best of my knowledge a UK release is not in the making.

Appolages for the explanation marks! I got over enthusiastic lol. I think its a shame a UK release hasn't been planned yet. Im still hoping it will be released in the future at some point. Or even a US version. As long as its not region coded

What did they release recently in Germany? It sounds like the BD with the TV edit scenes cut in?

Think it is. The TV scenes are upscaled. Database says it's 1080i.

Reading the comments on Amazon.de, it looks like there's a few technical problems with that disc as well.

There's a Japanese edition coming out shortly with the extended cut I believe.

Which will be a lot more expensive than the German one being discussed in the US thread. Still debating buying the German one myself though!

Ive actually had this on blu-ray for well over a year now but never got round to watching it. I had no idea how bad the transfer was till now.

I've noticed this is actually out of print now and you can get £10 exchange credit at cex for it, thats more than double i originally paid so think ill flog it to them and settle with the US import since the German version seems be faulty, im also not really into foreign covers tbh

I have the US edition. Its not great but it looks ok.

You need the US and the new German one though! And I am pretty sure that the German theatrical disc PQ/AQ is the same as the US theatrical PQ/AQ - or very close indeed. Way better than the dodgy UK PQ anyway. There is a tiny fault on the extended disc apparently (really need to watch it properly!) but the PQ/AQ again is way better than the old DVD.

Id get the new German one if I were you because you're getting both cuts in HD and its the only option right now for the extended cut anyway.

Not much information on it, read its meant to be anaglyphic 3D to which is weird.

German distributors put out a lot of 3D titles, it's quite possible Dune 3D will make you want to run like Baron Harkonnen is chasing you with a twinkle in his eyes ...

I've got the 3D version

pretty 3D menus but the actual 3D conversion is very flat. if you pause it you can see a very tiny about of depth and seperation. Not worth it really
