Universal Studios Dune (1984)

Dune (1984) Blu-ray

Okay, I watched The Descent, Reservoir Dogs, and The Punisher (2004), and every one of them showing off other titles from Lionsgate. Among them was Dune. I have searched around, and can't find a thing on this title. Did this get cancelled or something?

Yep. Actually, I like the mini-series better. Don't know why. Still, I wonder why Lionsgate was already previewing and stating it as already out with the other ones, even though it's not out.

I love David Lynch movie but the mini series was much closer to the look and feel of the books. David Lynch made and took certain things a little too far in his version. Baron Harkonnen as always bothered me in the film version. He was portraited much better in the mini series I find.

Import the French Blu-ray from Xploitedcinema.com. The PQ and DTS-HD MA soundtrack is awesome! Well worth the import price!

^ I'm hoping the eventual US release will mirror the French import.

Default DUNE (1984) April 27th 2010

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4124

im not sure if its taboo to post a link from a site that is very similar to this one so if it i have made a faux pas i will take it down.
while theres a bunch of david lynch flicks id like to see get the blu-ray treatment sooner, this seems like a logical place to start. (especially with another film adaptation in the works)

I don't hear crickets chirping and see tumbleweeds blowing by around here.

I'm sure lots of people are interested, but are just waiting for more concrete info before getting excited. I haven't seen it in many years, and would like to see it again.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer."

I don't know why Dune got such a bad rap, I thought it was pretty good. The only thing I can think of is people comparing it to the book - but almost ANY movie compared to the source novel isn't as good.

Taken on it's own I thought Lynch did a great job.

Dune is my least favorite Lynch film. I just want Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Dr, and all will be well with the world. Twin Peaks especially...

I'm sorry to say that I actually haven't seen Wild at Heart yet. I'll be sure to rent it soon, now that you reminded me of it.
