Default 32"/37" Hd Tv

Hello everyone

I currently have a 26" HDtv and I'm going to go up into the 30" range. However, I feel a 37" would be too big because my setup is going to be in my bedroom. If I was to get a FullHD 1080p 32" tv and sound surround speakers, would I be able to appreciate the power of bluray? I sit about 4-5 feet from it.

Any replies would be highly appreciated

Cheers

I have a 37" in my bedroom and it sits about the same as you will have 5-6 feet away and I feel that is perfect, I think I would be bothered with anything smaller.

37" and below you do not need to have 1080P, you will not be able to tell the difference.

You will LOVE bluray with a 32" or 37" with surround sounds.

I do not agree with that statement

The difference between 1080p and 720p at that size is minimal at that viewing distance and you will be hard pressed to tell the difference in most instances. This will be especially true if you opt for a 32". My first 1080p set was a 37" that replaced a 32" 768p set. The difference is sharpness was extremely small and you had to have your face right up on the screen to really see the difference.

My new 50" 1080p replaced a 50" 768p set which is now in the bedroom and the difference in sharpness is noticeable but not extreme. The most noticeable difference is with my computer, but in movies the difference is hardly noticeable unless you're much closer than the ideal viewing distance. Go 1080p if you can, but don't let it be the deciding factor. Look for the best overall picture for your money. You may even want to consider a 40"-42" set instead since the pricing is not much different from 37" sets. At 4-5ft. viewing distance it will still look great. The 50" in my bedroom replaced a 42" and it looks awesome. My viewing distance is about 7-8ft in the bedroom.

Go with the 37 or bigger. I bought a 32 and should have gone bigger. Now I want a 42!

I went from a 37” 720 Sammy to a 40” 1080p Sammy and had an average viewing distance of 10 feet. My wife and I could see a noticeable difference between the two. I can also tell the difference between my friends 32”1080p VS 32” 720p from 5 feet away easily

I can also tell the difference between my friends 32”1080p VS 32” 720p from 5 feet away easily. I was thinking more of the lines of 1080i on a 32

I'm positive you can tell the difference between the Samsung LN40B530 & Samsung LN40B640

I am simply saying that you can see a difference with 1080p with a 37” or smaller, it is all relative to viewing distance.

I think everyone agrees that you can see a difference, but you are right that difference is relative to the size and viewing distance. All of the professional reviewers agree that at 50" or less the difference is very small and in most instances you won't notice unless you are really looking for it. If you are closer than ideal viewing distance for a specific size then the difference will be more apparent.

If you take a 37" 720p set and put it beside a 37" 1080p set and sit at the ideal viewing distance you will possibly see a difference, but it will be relatively small. Of course if you move in closer you definitely see the difference if you didn't already notice it before. Another thing to consider is that most 32" and 37" sets that are marketed as 720p are really 768p so the difference in resolution isn't as great as a true 720p set.

At 32" the difference is so small that I don't see the justification for 1080p if there is a large difference in price. If the OP went to say a 40" or 42" set then 1080p should definitely be desired. The prices for sets in this range are very close whether they are 720p or 1080p, and 37" sets also approach this price range.
