Default So does anyone around here fish?

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Lockport is well known for Cat fishing in the spring to fall. I try to get out once a yr to land a couple of hogs. This is my largest so far, @ just under 35lbs.

My real passion however, is Walleye.

The Red River runs through Winnipeg, and flow into Lake Winnipeg. Every fall, the Walleye fishing goes nuts as the Greenbacks move in from the lake. They are a very healthy sub species of Walleye with a beautiful emerald green on there backs.

I can't wait, cuz in a couple of months, they'll be in, and they get HUGE!

My largest is 29.5", but I've been around a few landed that were over 32".

I used to fish a lot. Largemouth bass is one of the best fish out there for sport. I still watch Bassmasters on Saturday mornings.

I miss it. Going to try and hit the lake this Fall hopefully.

There aren't too many Largemouth waters near by, however we've got smallies all over the place. They are loads of fun. I don't fish for them often but when I do, it's a riot. They go nuts.

I think I've got to drive at least 3-4 hrs to find a "real" Largemouth spot.

Most of us have grocery stores and don't live in the wilderness Grumpz. *LOL*

Just kidding.

Did you have to portage to get to your fishing location?

Logan

I've portaged in the past, but that's with a canoe. I've got a 17" foot with a 50 Honda 4stroke. Haha, my portaging days are over.

Both my Cat and Walleye Master Anglers (a catch and release progam in the province that records fish size and hands out certificates for a certain size) were caught on the Red. It's actually quite nice, because 40 minutes from my front door and I've got my line in the water.
