Hey,

In case you didn't know the top 20 Tarantino movies on his lists since he became a Filmmaker.

THE LIST IS HERE: By the way since 1993.

Here is a a little about it:

Quote:
Quentin Tarantino has recorded a list of the top 20 films which have been released in the last 17 years. What’s so special about 17 years, or the year 1992? That was the year Tarantino became a filmmaker.

Films on Tarantino’s list include Battle Royale, Anything Else, Audition, Blade, Boogie Nights, Dazed & Confused, Dogville, Fight Club, Fridays, The Host, The Insider, Joint Security Area, Lost In Translation, The Matrix, Memories of Murder, Police Story 3, Shaun of the Dead, Speed, Team America, and Unbreakable. It think it is interesting that Tarantino talks about how The Matrix sequels ruined the mythology of the first film for him, enough to push it off the top of his list. Watch the full list after the jump, complete with commentary from Tarantino.

UPDATE

AUG 27TH:
TARANTINO REVIEWS THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Quote:
Earlier this month, we posted a video of Quentin Tarantino listing off his top 20 movies to be released since he became a filmmaker. The video was actually party of a special series on the British television channel Sky Movies. Tarantino presented some movies of his choice films including Taxi Driver, Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, and even his own Death Proof, accompanied by short sit down introductions.

What follows after the jump is Tarantino’s 10-minute review of Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. Of course, Anderson is one of Quentin’s good friends, so the review is glowing. But Tarantino’s insights are always worth my time. Check out the review after the jump.

YOU COULD FIND THE VIDEO HERE.

ENJOY.

Are you saying you haven't seen this movie.

Lost in Translation was awesome. Not the Usual Bill Murray (That includes Broken Flower movie I believe.)

I haven't seen it.

I like Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. It even sounds like a movie I'd love. Probably blind buy it if it comes to blu-ray.

The only one I don't have on DVD is Memories of a Murder. I guess I'll have to check that one out.

Wow the mention of Police Story 3, and not 1 or 2 is blasphemy, he probably hasn't even seen the first two. Tell him I got vhs and dvd copies of both he can borrow, Police Story 3 wouldnt even be my top 20 Jackie movies, but 1 and 2 are both top 10s easy. Watch the scene where they drive cars right through a village on a hill in Police Story 1, the Hummer scene from Bad Boys 2 where they crash the drug shacks is a complete rip off of it, but then again it's so amazing I don't blame Michael Bay for copying them at all, it's an incredible scene.

The list is from 1992 on. Police Story (1985) and Police Story 2 (1988) don't quite make the cutoff.

This is a good list. It's funny that I've taken such a liking to Tarantino's films that I could have almost predicted most of this list. Part of what makes him a great filmmaker is how sure he is in what it is he loves.

Which brings up this question: Would our Gen, be considered a Tarantino's one?

Think about this?

Any movie you think Quentin hasn't seen, he's probably already watched twice...

Watching Lost in translation is like watching a train wreck in slowmotion.

This is the only movie where me and my wife almost stopped watching half-way. We bit our tongue and sat through it, thinking there must be some good in the movie ... but no, the train only derailed further, fell down a cliff and then exploded. There were no survivors.

To instill a tiny bit of fun in our movie-watching experience, we tried to count the number of cultural stereotypes, misinterpretations and misconceptions, but we lost track at about 100.

Ms Copolla should be burned at the stake for making this wretch of a movie. Worst movie I've ever seen. It's boring, doesn't know what genre it wants to belong to (it seems want to be taken seriously but there's too many inaccuracies for that ... and it's not nearly funny enough to be a parody) and don't even get me started on the condescending tone this movie takes towards Japanese culture. For someone who supposedly 'immersed' herself in the cultural underbelly, Ms Copolla sure knew how to stack one (inaccurate) stereotype upon another.

Honestely, save yourself the trouble and instead watch a movie where the director at least knows his or her material.

TDK is an overrated bloated pile of mediocre.

As much as i love Shaun there are many more worthy movies for top 20. Surprised that Old Boy wasnt up there. That seems right up his alley.

I would like to clarify that I was 100% joking. Just trying to stir the pot and get in there before somebody legitimately did.

He's not saying "these are the best 20 films," he is saying "these are my favorites." That is COMPLETELY different. You can't tell me that something isn't "worthy" of being my favorite movie.

Of course he can, haven't you heard the plot of Inception yet?

I agree with some of those but, as usual, Tarantino once again reminds us of his Asian fetish. Battle Royale was fun, but not that great. Memories of Murder was just OK. I just added JSA, so we'll see how that one goes.

It's strange he doesn't have a single Rolling Thunder title. Considering he hand-picked the Rolling Thunder titles (i.e. Chungking Express and Sonatine), you'd think he would like them enough to have them on the list.
