Default Pioneer Kuro Model Comparison

I think I am going to bite the bullet and buy a Pioneer Kuro; however, I am not sure on size yet (haven't moved to new house yet), and not sure on what model.

can someone please explain the benefits / comparisions between the following models?

PDP 5020FD
PRO 111FD
PRO 101FD

I know the obvious difference is pricing, and the 60" model will be more than the 50.

I witnessed the 5020FD at Best Buy, and I was amazed. So, what are the major differences / benefits of one over the other?

Also, i saw the 5020FD for 2000 at Best Buy, seems to be a damn good price...where are some other places that have good prices for the above models and there 60" counterparts?

Oh, and I'm sure it was posted before, but I got impatient using the search feature, so please excuse my ignorance. If it was posted, just lead me into that direction.

The difference between the PRO-111fd and PRO-101fd is that the 101 does not come with
1) pedestal stand
2) speakers
3) tuner
4) Media gallery function

As for the video quality between the two, i believe that there are exactly the same. i am not sure about the 5020.
i just bought the PRO-101fd and it is being delivered to my new house next week. Can't wait to hook it up to my SC-05 and my BDP-05fd

Good information to know...I currently have a HT; however, I would want the stand / speakers (even though i wouldn't use the speakers, I still want them)

Another question...I would probably get it professionally calibrated, so, would that make a big difference between the models?

Default kuro model comparison

This thread is entirely about the differences in the kuro line. First page of the thread is the best.

The 101FD along with the KRP-500M have some of Pioneer's never released 10G technology in them, and they actually have even better black levels than the rest of Pioneer's 9G sets. I have the KRP-500M and I will tell you firsthand that its impressive. The 101FD is the same set with a few added features like the rest of the Signature series, but they will both give you the same picture and the KRP can be had for a lot less too. I'd skip the 111FD and 5020FD and get the 101FD or a KRP-500M if at all possible. There is a very noticeable difference with these two sets in comparison to the rest of Pioneer's sets.

Does the KRP-500M have a stand to put the TV on and speakers? The speakers aren't as important, but the stand is as I do not think I will be hanging this TV

Really? I wouldnt say 9th gens are an 8 and the "10th" gens are a 10. More like a 9 and a 10. The 500Ms def have better blacks than the 111s [5020s aside] but you saw that big a jump in blackerness huh? Its discernible but I would say one would def need to have em side by side.

But yeah to the OP def go for the 500Ms if you have the option and you dont need speakers. I think most of the sellers are throwing in stands with KRPs so that shouldnt be an issue. Happy hunting!

I'm debating getting a 500M as a back-up before Kuros disappear for good.

I ordered mine from Vanns and they included the stand for free. Lojack ordered his from a eBay powerseller (quickclicksales) that also included a stand. Some other places will include a wall mount.
The speakers don't come with it and are a bit hard to find at the moment.

Nice, Vanns includes the stand, thats nice. I saw a couple on Ebay for 1600-1700 or so, but I think I would rather go with Vanns if I were to buy one and get the free stand.

The 500M seems the way to go...I would love the 600m, but I don't think I can talk the wife into spending that much...I am already having a hard time talking her into an upgrade since we just bought a 46" lcd (which we would be replacing) back in march

It would be tough proving to me that there is "Better" PQ out there than what I have with my pro calibrated 111FD.
