Default Pioneer Blu-ray player model

Pioneer BDP-HD1 Blu-ray Player

Release September 2006 (US)
Pricing $1,500 (high-end model, subject to change)

It seems like Pioneer is releasing a high end model for September. Would a high end model include extra features like internet access and download? Also how come you can preorder a Sony blu-ray player now, but you can't preorder other players now?

It will certainly carry the name high end model.

It's up to the manufacturer to decide whether you can preorder one... I suppose.

What would a high end model have? If you pay $1,500,00 for a high end model, what would you get out of it?

Thanks for the information. Some say that the Samsung player isn't even very good. Others think that some flims like the fifth element are poorly transfered and others don't seem to have a problem. I think it all depends on what kind of setup you have. Like what kind of tv and speaker setup. Things will improve.

You have about 5 different blu-ray players coming out in total so it seems like somebody could make a good blu-ray player that works no matter what kind of setup you have. I'm not familar with Pioneer. I am familar with Sony.

theres nothing wrong with the samsung IMO, i would have bought it if it wasn't "gloss black" & designed to look like it matches their tv's. Im waiting for the Sony because A) they are the same price, and B) i've seen it in person and the build quality is twice that of the samsung. I <3 the brushed metal top and blue glass front panel...truly sexXxy!

I'll co-sign this one... I'll be purchasing the Sony Player on the first day that is available. Hopefully it will satisfy all of my needs, or else I might have to look at the Pioneer.

I know that everybody is not really mad, but worried at Sony because Sony keeps delaying their products. First with the playstation 3 and now with their blu-ray player. I'll be sure to read reviews on Sony's blu-ray player.

Im not as worried as I am impatient. I want Sony to take all the time they need to bring me a quality product that is worth every penny of my $1000. Now, if they keep delaying the product, then give me a piece of crap then I'll be pissed off, but until then, I'm hoping for the best.

I totally agree. Sony should give us a quality player for the price that we pay for it and if there's anybody that gives us quality products that are good, it's Sony. I think that Sony really wants to give us a good blu-ray player and ps3 console because Sony knows that there are Sony fans that don't want to be disappointed.

Pioneer in my opinion will most likely have the best player though it might be a little more expensive.

That may be true since the Pioneer player is a high end model.

Hopefully Samsung will learn from their mistakes and make a second player. Most of the reviews claimed that the Samsung was a bad blu-ray player, but what I'm wondering is that is the Samsung really as bad as people say it is, or are some blu-ray movies bad, as in not a good transfer, or is it the tv that is used. There was one review that said that the Samsung player is fair so I think that it depends on the movie playing and on the setup used, like what kind of TV you have.
