Independence day extended version - Blu-ray Forum

How can they put out a BD for ID4 and only have the theatrical version? Any idea if ID4 will be released with the extended version.I refuse to purchase the standard version and I will wait till the exteded version is available.

I'm not sure if there's a release date..

BTW, Best Buy had the BD release on sale a few times as low as $14.99. IMO, you can't pass that up especially with great PQ & AQ.

The extended version will most likely come eventually, but the question is when. It might be a few years, maybe more.

Maybe it will be released when 2012 is released on Blu-ray? That would be my guess.

Not for a while. I agree with macruz19..pick it up anyway. $15 is a great price for ID4 it looks great

I prefer the theatrical version

and yes the current Bluray is worth picking up especially when its so cheap (cost wise not PQ/AQ wise)

THIS IS FUNNY because someone listed ID4 as one of the movies in the "poor PQ thread" .......

I have it, and have watched it a few times.....but not with discerning eye..... didn't really critique it... I noticed the special effects are humorous given the fact that the details are exposed by Blu-ray's capabilities.

I found alot of the movie hadn't aged well, It's funny because at the time the movie blew everyone away and was considered a "game changer" (although that term didn't exist yet). The effects, haircuts, clothing and dialogue all sound like a modern film making fun of a 90's film, lol

It's still an enjoyable movie though, it's just funny how some movies age so fast while other can be twice as old and not feel dated at all

Ya Blu-ray made it look a little dated but I still enjoy it.

I'm going to get the blu-ray version soon. I only have the VHS version of it so I wasn't aware of the extended version. How much of a difference is it from the theatrical release?
