Default PS3 SATA to eSATA

Does anyone know if there is an adapter you can get for the PS3 here in the states that is a SATA to eSATA connection for the internal HD of the PS3. I have read alot of speculation that Sony may come out with it but I have also seen other third parties with units that plug in like the internal HD and has an eSATA connection so I could use 3.5" HD's up to 2 TB so I get a faster read than trying to use an external HD with a usb connection. Seen them just can not find a place to buy them.

off hand i dont know of anyone who sells them but if you could squeeze your fingers into the hard drive bay all you need to do is connect standard sata cables from the connectors to the drive itself

I thought about that too but there are also a few other pin connections on there would I only need the SATA connection or is there a power connection, I can definetly get my fingers in there no problem.

If the external drive you have has it's own power supply then you should, in theory, only need to connect the SATA cable.

There was something else too...something similar - basically a cage that plugged into the drive bay and replaced the drive cover with a new cover with a SATA port - I can't find it though

That is the same device I found as well but can not find a way to purchase it here in the US. I did find parts to make my own connection though. Now the big thing is someone told me that if you take out your hard drive and swap with another one that was already formatted for the PS3 it will still ask you to reformatt it again even if it came out of the same PS3. Can any one confirm this? Like I took out my 60 GB and replaced with a 500GB, I had been using the 60 GB for a long time, this guy says that if I put back in the 60 GB after putting in the 500 GB even though it was formatted to my PS3 originally it will still ask me to reformat it deleting everything on it. Can this be true???
