Over the past few months, we’ve been showing you how United Front Games is bringing the “Play, Create, Share” concept to kart racing with ModNation Racers. Today (via Gamespot), we announced that ModNation Racers will also be coming to the PSP as well – and at the same time as its big-brother PS3 edition (the exact street date is TBA).
I was down at San Diego Studios this week, where the team demoed Mod creation, Kart customization, full track creation, single and online-multiplayer modes; basically, everything that you’re expecting from the PS3 version of MNR. How did they manage to jam all that into the PSP? That’s a story for another day. Meanwhile, the proof is in the trailer, embedded below.

The funny thing is Gamestop has had it on pre-order for both PS3 and PSP since the PS3 version was announced though with a generic release date.

Game looks good on PSP... but I cant fork out 40 for it and 60 for the PS3 version.

$30? I was going to buy regardless. Just great news. I played around with it a little yesterday and just wish they would have included something regarding the controls. As usual, it'll still take some getting used to but I just wish I knew what I was doing.

I agree, I hope it's there in the final game as I have no idea what I'm doing sometimes. I actually liked the PSP version better than the PS3 version. Admittedly I'm comparing a demo to a an early beta version, but my main gripe with the beta (camera angle) was fixed on the PSP version, of course the framerates and the load times were better as well but that was to be expected from a demo.

I played around with it a little more and enjoyed it more the second time when I figured out item use is the button. Now I just wish I knew which one did what...
