I don't know if this has been posted yet, if it has I apologize, please delete. Other wise, those who are interested, ign has a review of Terminator : Salvation (movie). I won't post a link in case it contains spoilers, but it's on their home page.

Frankly, T2 is what I liked least of the trilogy. But from the beginning this franchise suffers from the grandfather paradox, which isn't really a paradox but a contradiction.
"Given what we know at the end of Terminator 2 – arguably a masterwork of the genre – was negating that film's conclusion in order to set up this post-apocalyptic vision ultimately worth the potential sci-fi sacrilege?" Nothing in T2's conclusion is or could be negated. Sarah's successful sabotage of Cyberdine could not have prevented the future that led her down the path along which she traveled. Had she succeeded in stopping Judgement Day, there would be no war, thus there would be none of the experiences that followed a series of causes and effects that would have sent Kyle Reese to her in 1984 resulting in John's conception. "Terminator Salvation is much the same way, entertaining but ultimately unnecessary". I suppose the one who was proven to be real stupid was Skynet. It should have known better that it could not change its future because it could not succeed in changing its past, or it would not have known the history that it does know otherwise. Basically, the whole franchise, though lots of fun, is ultimately unnecessary. T: Salvation does not alone suffer that criticism. Though T1 is still my fave, T3 is what made the most sense.
