I'm still going to be renting this game regardless of the reviews its given just to check it out as I'm a big James Bond fan.

is it me or is the game launching before or at the same time as the movie?

I think that is so lame.

What is your preferred timing for the game?

I kind of see your point (I think it's your point, but you never know), though.

If the game was finished already, it seems dumb to hold off on releasing it, until the movie comes out.

On the other hand, maybe they are rushing to throw something together, to make sure its out by the time the movie comes out.

When games based on movies come out after movies, I think that's lame too. Unless it's like 40 years later (can we get some Hitchcock games please?)

I don't think I've ever played a good movie-to-game game in my 20+ years of gaming.

User reviews on Metacritc have an average of 8.5 and the highest critic review is VideoGamer at 90. They say "This is "GoldenEye" for a new generation. And praise doesn't come much higher than that." IGN is the lowest rating on Metacritic at 70.

I'm still excited to play this game. Should get it tomorrow from Amazon and will post my first impressions.

I've played a few good ones.

Back to the Future -- NES <-----still one of my favorite games

Aladdin -- SNES

Lego Star Wars -- PS2 (that counts, right?)

and

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers -- PS2 (not any of the other LotR games)

come to mind.

Oh yeah. I completely forgot about Aladdin (SNES and Genesis). That might be the only one, though.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but yes, it was great.

I had the SNES version which was a bit different from the Genesis one (like not using a scimitar....thanks Nintendo).

I wasn't joking. I wish we had some sort of laugh or lol or rofl smiley around here, though, since that was what I was looking for. Something like or would be nice.

But yeah, I thought the SNES one was better too.

ahhhhh.. just the game.. I saw Quantom Of Solace IGN review 7/10 listed in recent post's and thought the movie was given that rating.. i had serious dissapointment there for a second.. so just the game.. hopefully that wont be the movie's review though still.. im hoping 10/10 or a 9/10.. and yeah, Goldeneye was the best Bond game that there probably ever will be in my opinion.. i remember playing mutiplayer with friends and no one was allowed to choose the short dude "Oddjob" is that his name??? cause when you come around the corner you'd have to aim down which would give him a better chance to kill you.. we thought that character was a cheat

As did I, and I'm sure plenty of other people. I also thought using the monkey in TimeSplitters 2 was cheating, for the same reason.

You know what, i figured it out. Goldeneye is not a good game. If it was remade graphically and kept the exact same, but used the COD4 engine, it would get a low score because it is a generic shooter. The only reason it was soooooo highly praised is because it was the first console shooter besides doom that was actually good. So everyone loves it because it was a good FPS console game. So really, no bond game has ever been great.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out (NES) clearly came from Rocky!

well that's why it's a classic. it was great for it's time and standards have been raised since it came out so of course it wouldn't be as great today. notice how mario games have gotten much more complex? you're not just collecting coins and stomping on enemies anymore. if super mario world was remade today with just better graphics it wouldn't be as incredible as it once was, either.

I was thinking the same thing, with Mario. Except I don't think his argument is that it's not great because it wouldn't hold up today.

What I think he was saying is that because there was simply nothing else even decent in terms of console FPS games, as soon as a remotely decent one came along, it was hailed as something amazing.
