Yes, you can still watch them in High Definition. 720 is just fine, most of the time. Depending on TV size and how far you sit from the TV, you may not be able to really tell a big difference between 1080 and 720.

You will get a great picture, but 1080P would be better. Anyways, it is a great start. You will see enhanced contrast, definition, and more vibrant colors when compared to a DVD. You can now enjoy HD audio via PCM, True HD, or DTS-HD MA.

I am not sure, but it must be epic.I am a HUGE clint eastwood fan, most likely Gran Torino. Also one other question. When it upscales regular dvd's it doesn't ruin anything in the console or on the dvd right?

Looks like all the major stores broke street date.

Walmart, Frys and Best Buy all had the new Slim available for sale tonight.
Didn't look like there were any shortages either. Lots of pallet like stacks at the stores except Walmart, who are still paranoid and keep their game decks behind glass.

No, that is not false. What is the screen size of each TV? and how far are you sitting from each TV?

...not to mention two completely different tv's will inherently look different, regardless of pixel count.

It is sort of a dumb question to ask, but you are connecting your new PS3 to your tv via a HDMI cable, right?

To get the full benefit of 1080p, it is about 3' to 3.5'. Since you have 720p, you could go further without losing 720p clarity. I haven't done the sums, but my guess is about 5'.

Welcome to the forum. PS3 is a great blu-ray player. Since you have the new slim-PS3, could you please check the fan noise level and whether it get too hot when run for about 30min or so.
