I'm finally moving to a FP. Held off til the entry level 1080p prices came down. Due to my living room setup I'll have to get a pull down screen. There's no way around it because of the room layout. Can a great image still be obtained with one of these?
Would something like this be decent? I really don't want to spend a lot on a screen right out of the gate and would rather get in now and upgrade later. http://www.projectorpeople.com/scree...en&tab=summary Projectors I'm interested in are the Mitsu3800, Epson 8100 and Optoma HD20. Thanks for any input. ![]() |

I've had two Elite Pulldowns, an 80" and a 100" and both had waves. The 100" was worse than the 80 though. They are not really noticeable except on slow panning shots and end credits.

My eyes have never noticed any waves at all. Perhaps I do not have a good enough eye to notice such things, but I can honestly say that I have not noticed any issues at all with my manual screen. You can take a look in my gallery and check out some pics of the screen pulled down and see if you can notice any waves.....thankfully I don't and I hope I never do either.

The curtains finished the look and I was happy with the way it all turned out. |

I have had my screen since November and haven't noticed any waves yet. I keep it down as much as possible to limit the amount of time it is rolled up. I only roll it up when the TV is being watched or the living room is being used for something other then movies.

You know, when I was using my Draper 2 screen for outdoor movies, bugs have covered the screen, with a couple of thick stains that can be noticeable even when watching a movie. They are not noticable during dark and mid brightness scenes, but bright whites (namely in cartoons) can stick out at the wrong area, but it's rare. It's not ideal, but it's better than advertising your screen giving someone the oportunity to steal it (Fun Fact: people never notice the screen when pulled down).

i have had my pulldown for a couple years, and its now just getting a few waves..so far its hard to notice, bu if you look you can see them..
screens never stay perfect.. even the fixed ones, sometimes bow because of the wood frames expanding/contracting... |
