Default 2:3 pull down help

Hey everyone,

I got a quick question. See my TV has the option to select auto movie on or off. when it is selected to on this is the effect (right from cnets page)

Selecting the Auto Movie Mode engages 2:3 pull-down detection to eliminate motion artifacts from film-based video sources.

My receiver has the ability to select 3:2 or 2:2 imaging formats via the HDMI out.

According to Cnet ( 2:3 pull-down detection
Also (and less accurately) called 3:2 pull-down; digital technology developed by Faroudja to accurately convert and display content originally on celluloid film, which runs at 24 frames per second (fps) compared to the 30fps rate of television. It is found in many DVD players and DTVs.

This tells me that the image going from my receiver to the Tv will be the proper format right?

Now the problem is my BD player has the option for 24 fps movie mode. However when I select it it waits a few seconds and reverts back as if my tv is not compatible.

Is there anyone who can fill me on any misconceptions I might have or as to why this wont work?

Thanks guys
