Default Sony Bulb/Lamp help

My brother has a Sony KDF-50E2000 that is giving him a message that his bulb is dimming. I am going to help him replace it, but am a bit confused about what to buy.
My options include:

http://www.bluestar-online.com/XL_24...FQjyDAod5x66nQ

http://www.projectorquest.com/product_info.php?products_id=3709&ctt_id=2438422&c tt_adnw=Google&ctt_kw=kdf-50e2000&ctt_ch=ps&ctt_entity=tc&ctt_adid=421343251 3&ctt_nwtype=search&ctt_cli=8^10691^58113^537731

any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It looks like that is the correct one. It is listed under the compatable models. Not a bad price either at $109.00.

A word of warning - I bought a "compatible" bulb from projector quest last year for my SXRD- had to return it because it flickered really bad. I found a Sony branded bulb on ebay for just a little more. They weren't the easiest to deal with over the return, and ended up charging me a restocking fee. So their compatible bulb really wasn't.

Well, my concern is that one of those links is to a product that looks like a bulb and the other (which didn't link for some reason) looks like a device that holds a bulb.

Sorry the 1st working link is the one I was talking about that looked ok. I have no experience with replacement bulbs as mine have always been warranty replaced. dg5150 seem to have more knowledge on the aftermarket stuff.

I know that there is a cradle/case that houses the bulb and it looks like your second link includes a new case as well. That may be your price diff right there. It is probably not good to handle the bulb too many times but have you tried removing the original and seeing what the housing looks like? See what is involved in the removal of the bulb from the case and see if it is worth the extra $30.00.

I went with that ebay seller everyone has been recommending. Niosales.

I just ordered one today.

Niosales is a good one. I ordered from him as well. They're pretty cheap and you get the casing as well. i also have the sony KDF-55E2000, which is only a lil bigger and still uses the same equipment. The message first popped up in april of this year and i still didn't have to change my light bulb yet. I'm just waiting for my original bulb to run out to ut in my new bulb. I'm surprise the original is still lasting when the message popped up a few months back.
