Default Replacement Lamp For Sony Srxd Kds-50a2000

When Replacing The Lamp Is It Necessary To Replace The Housing Also Or Just Order The Lamp. Don't Need To Spend The Extra Money If I Don't Have To.

Don't be fooled by the "extra money", buy the lamp that comes with the housing. I just had mine replaced today. It's under warrenty with Best Buy so it didn't cost me anything. The chance of something going wrong with just a lamp is great. If you buy just the lamp, you will have to remove the old lamp from the housing, disconnect wires and such and there is a particular way they lamp has to be situated into the housing. Remember not to touch the lamp with your bare hands; your fingers have oil and other things on them that will shorten the lamps life. The geek squad guy came today, opened the lamp housing, pulled out the old lamp (and assembly), blew it out with compressed air (the housing) snapped in the new lamp (and assembly) closed the door to the housing and that was it. We talked about that same thing about buying them online is that people get just the lamp and either expected to get what was pictured (usually a complete unit to include housing) or don't really know how to take it all apart and put it back together correctly. He recommends as do I buying the complete assembled housing units; takes 5 - 10 minutes and your rolling.

I'm buying one from this site in this link. there is also a youtube video that shows the involvement of having to replace the lamp with an existing housed lamp and about how long it takes. best of luck. I'm buying one so that by the time this one fails, (hopefully it will last me another 3 years like the original one did) I'll be ready to sell this TV for a couple of hundred and buy a new one and be able to tell the new owners it has a brand new lamp installed in it. By the way, it looks like a brand new set with that lamp change! it's incredible!

best of luck to you!
