I have a sony kds-50a2000 and a samsung bd-p1400. The tv will not accept 1080p/24 although the player will output it. Is there any way to escape motion judder with some kind of outboard scaler or converter?

With a suitable scaler from Lumagen, DVDO or Crystalio, you can frame rate convert from 24p to 48p, and the TV should accept this. This has been confirmed by an owner on the avforums.

A used Lumagen Visions DVI or HDP might be a good solution, as you have great control over the output frame rate (amongst many other things).
