Australia DVD movies that really benefit going Blu!!

Hi all,

Bit of a newbie here.
Just wondering which DVD movies you thought gained the most
by switching to Blu.

Here's a couple of examples......

Crimson Tide on DVD Average PQ Dolby 5.1 AQ
Crimson Tide on Blu Great PQ Awesome AQ (lossless)

Absolute chalk and cheese here.

But then.....

Outbreak on DVD Average PQ Dolby 5.1 AQ
Outbreak on Blu Average PQ Decent AQ (lossless)

Even the lossless audio can't stop it being a mediocre Blu (Great movie though)

Could just be first generation 25Gig issue but Crimson Tide is too and it rocks!!

Your thoughts appreciated

Well, need to be careful here. Most likely DVDs are rated on the DVD scale and blu-rays are rated on blu-ray scale. Therefore, blu-ray Ave PQ probably would be far superior to DVD Ave PQ.

I was very, very impressed by the quality of The Thing on Bluray. I thought this was a n awesome transfer.

Yeah that's a good example. Big improvement from the DVD.
Made in early Eighties but watching it on Blu is like seeing it for the
first time!!

Meanwhile Mission:Impossible on Blu looks ordinary and doesn't even
have lossless audio!!

I totally agree with mission impossible. I bought the trilogy on bluray and thought hmmmmmmmmmmmm, not much difference. It's a very lazy transfer if you ask me. The third one, being a newer film is a little better than 1 and 2.
